The Independence County District Court has four divisions: 1. Traffic, 2. Misdemeanor Criminal, 3. Small claims and 4. Civil. Subject matter and monetary limit jurisdictional rules are set forth in Arkansas Supreme Court Administrative Rule 18. Court is held every Wednesday(except holidays) and begins at 9:00 a.m. Small claim and civil case trials are heard on the last Wednesday of every month. DWI Court meets every Wednesday, noon to 1:00 p.m. Absent time permitting or special setting, criminal and traffic case trials begin at 1:00 p.m.
Circuit Court Order of Protection cases are heard every other Thursday (except holidays) beginning at 9:30 a.m.
All cases expected to last ≥4 hours should be scheduled for special setting.
