In December 2008 the Independence County Quorum Court authorized a collection of sixty dollars ($60.00) per year for trash collection charge to begin in January 2009 in reference to Ordinance No. 2008-41. The County Judge’s Office was directed to bill quarterly a trash collection service charge in the amount of $15.00 per quarter, plus county sales tax to property owners within the unincorporated areas of Independence County. Trash collection services of sixty dollars ($60.00) per year shall be a continuing annual charge, billed on a quarterly basis, until altered or abolished by the Independence County Quorum Court.

There is a subsequent amount of delinquent trash collection bills for 2009. Independence County is obligated by Arkansas County Compliance Guide to provide solid waste management to County residents per Compliance Code 8-6-212 under County Solid Waste Management Systems. Any fees and service charges billed by the County which are more than ninety (90) days delinquent on November 1 of each year may be entered on the tax records of the county as a delinquent periodic fee or service charge and may be collected by the County with personal property taxes.

Payments on the outstanding bills for 2009 trash collection can be paid in the County Judge’s Office no later than September 31, 2010 during normal business hours of Monday thru Friday 8:00 a.m.- 4:30 p.m. Any outstanding bills after September 31,2010 at close of business hours will be certified in the County Clerk’s Office to remit payment through the County Tax Collector’s Office.
