INDEPENDENCE COUNTY COLLECTION – The Critical First Step

Before the County can manage solid waste and recyclables, we have to collect them. For all residents who live in Independence County, this comes easy since the County provides trash collection services. However, many rural areas of the County deal with illegal dumping and open burning of trash. Both of these methods of trash disposal are dangerous and illegal. No one wants a landfill near them. Yet hundreds of people contribute every day to a growing number of mini-landfills with no safety features that we can call illegal dumps. Burning today’s modern trash with the variety of plastics and other chemicals releases toxic substances into the air where everyone gets a chance to breathe them. So what are rural residents to do? Fortunately, every County resident who lives in Independence County has the opportunity to have their solid waste picked up right at their resident. COMMERCIAL ROLL-OFF SERVICE

If you need a roll-off container for a one-time or on-going basis (such as a construction project), Independence County provides the following service with rate charges.

Commercial Roll-Off Containers

$150.00 Delivery set-up
$ 55.00 per ton disposal charge
$ 35.00 a week rental fee after the first week

Commercial 3 ½ yard Dumpsters (Purchased by the business, serviced weekly by the Independence County Solid Waste Department)

$16.00 Disposal Charge, 1 disposal per week, 12 disposals per quarter this equals $192.00 per quarter. An Additional $21.00 will be billed for any extra disposals.

I.E.S.I TRANSFER STATION – for the residents of Independence County, who prefer to haul their own solid waste to the transfer station, may do so at no additional charge (only resident disposing of their household trash) to the county resident.
